A Poem

The Immortal Cry

If ere there were a power so strong
To cast away my true love's song
Yet even in that silence long:
My love is ever thine.

And should he ever pass the door
The lead's beyond my silver shore
And passing he forevermore:
My love is ever thine.

There if he finds another love
Who's seas he'd long been dreaming of
The stars would hear my cry above:
My love is ever thine.

And if his love should pass me by
I would not lie, if dead were I
But stand and sing the Immortal Cry:
My love is ever thine.
